Delete your account & data

This draft explains the existing deletion service for Cursor Style Chat (style.cursor.chat) at cursor.style. [OWNER: Approve the deletion explanation, legal operator and effective date.]

How to delete an account

The v2 app release is intended to provide Settings → Delete account. [VERIFY: Confirm the final app entry point, guest support, confirmation and result; this is not proven for shipped 1.0.0+3 or 1.1.0.]

At https://cursor.style/account/delete, no sign-in is required:

1. Enter the email associated with your account in the form below.
2. If the email matches an eligible account, you receive a confirmation link. The response is the same whether an account exists or not.
3. Open the link, then submit the final confirmation form. Merely opening the email link does not delete your account.

The link expires after 24 hours and is single-use. A newer request replaces an earlier unfinished request. Deletion starts synchronously after final confirmation; individual chat-data cleanup failures are logged for follow-up, so this is not a guarantee of immediate, complete erasure.

What the service attempts to remove

The account profile, email/sign-in identity, password and sessions; chat profile, friendship/block records, group memberships/invites, settings, linked gaming accounts, profile items, gem ledger and account bans. It deletes DM/group messages authored by you, system entries associated with your actions, and your reactions and poll votes. It removes conversation records involving your account and marks owned groups deleted. It does not promise removal of every other participant's message or copy.

Public messages and remaining data

Public-room messages can remain for conversation continuity. Display name becomes “Deleted user”; avatar and country display fields are cleared, and some reply-preview names are masked. Internal user IDs and message text may remain, including identifying information you wrote yourself. This is display masking, not guaranteed irreversible anonymization.

The service does not demonstrate complete erasure of uploads/object-storage media, posts/comments, call records, every denormalized copy, translation records or backups. [VERIFY: Confirm and document cleanup coverage for all these categories and retained identifiers against the release's deletion service.]

Technical logs can record the user ID and deletion attempt/outcome. [VERIFY: Establish actual log/backup retention, failed-cleanup follow-up and any lawful preservation requirements; no guaranteed completion period is established here.]

Guests and accounts without email access

This email form excludes guest/anonymous accounts. Guests can still have messages, uploads, a user ID and activity data. If you are a guest or cannot access your email, contact [email protected] with your username/user ID and request assistance. Do not send passwords.
